I still see a lot of people out there projecting an image and rep that puts themselves on a pedestal as if they are greater then others from their success, exposure, marketing, etc and it really makes me sick..

This 'game' does not exist and it never has..

Anyone that says its all about the game, about rising up above others and thinks that their image and 'rep' is the answer is just fooling themselves...
EVERYTHING is about others.. Everything is about relationships.

Contacts are not used for rising over someone, gloating over, etc. Contacts are relationships that promote mutual respect and success to each on their journey. We all have our own individual journey and purpose in this life.

Bare with me and think back about two hundred years... Why did people play music, why did people do business, what did they do afterwards?

Music was made to uplift the hearts of many, business was made for giving people what they need and providing for their family at the same time... Afterwards, they lived life - relaxed, played, enjoyed the simple things....

What is the common thread in this thinking back?
Helping others...

With the rise of technology, the information age and the times of where everyone can do things themselves we have forgotten about our friends and families especially in this ego and pride that the music industry has resorted to. Don't get me wrong, not everyone falls under this. Thank goodness there are great musicians, artists and producers shining through the midst of this.

The law of what goes around comes around cannot be ignored any longer in the music industry. The industry has put out uninspired, hate and violence filled, surface material for years and since 2000 the results of this have been getting worse. We constantly read about how the industry has taken another loss and another and so on....

So why is everyone still looking to the industry? Why do people still worship these artists and producers like they are more than mere people?

True success results from hard work, stickin to the grind through all obstacles, moving forward passed rejection and stayin true to your vision and dreams.

Ignore everything else that says otherwise.

Respect where respect is due is important but anything more than that is a recipe for failure.. We all are born, we all have the same bodily functions, we all mistakes, we all will never be perfect and we all die....

At the end of the day all the many 'major artists' are just another person making a living doing what they love and what they need to do to survive. Music industry role models happen because of the money behind marketing. However, every single one of us has a choice and its time to rise up and choose a different choice than believing this fake imagery we are bombarded with daily... Especially in our own artistry, we have a choice to be bogged down and held back because we don't measure up. Instead, I encourage you to just keep pushing through it until you begin to see your goals and dreams coming to fruition. It will happen it just takes perseverance and steering clear of distractions.

Image is really of no concern these days. The industry got off track a LONG time ago when the product became the people and not the music... it doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, where you have been or whatever. What matters is that when your music is heard, it touches, inspires and moves others to become a better person... that is the product... 'Image' and marketing are the easiest things to achieve but only after these important steps..

-Stay true to YOUR dreams, inspirations and goals. You have a specific mission to accomplish in this lifetime.
-Ignore what everyone else is doing that is contrary to your goals. You will come across many who will help inspire you and help with your direction.
-Protect your goals by not allowing discouragement and negativity in through any words spoken over you.
-Focus your time on creating a great product or service.
-Take action - with every action taken, you will see a result. Some results are immediate and some take longer.
-Every day stay hopeful and keep a purposeful eye out to watch things fall into place.

WOW...this is a well written article, Ed. A fresh and accurate observation of what the music industry has become...And yes, we want to be part of the solution instead of the problem.

And BTW...girls don't have bodily functions, only boys. ;) lol
